Students may choose one of the following tracks according to their background

The Master of Arts in Teaching Program is
designed for individuals who have completed an undergraduate liberal arts major
without teacher licensure. Upon successful completion of this graduate program,
one should be eligible for a teaching license in an undergraduate major, Special
Education, or elementary grades. In some cases, additional undergraduate courses
may be required to meet state licensure requirements.
The Master
of Education Program is available for practicing teachers or persons who
have completed an undergraduate teacher education program. Emphases available
are Educational Leadership, Special Education or Classroom Teaching. This degree
program is designed to provide post-baccalaureate study for persons preparing
for careers in professional education and for those teachers who want to refine
their teaching skills.
The Educational
Specialist Program is designed for dedicated teachers and administrators who
would like to advance their skills and knowledge with a degree above the
master’s level. This program offers emphases in Classroom Teaching and
Educational Leadership. The Classroom Teaching program is based on the five core
propositions of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. This
program will encourage continued excellence in the classroom and facilitate the
teacher’s application for National Board Certification, if desired. The
Educational Leadership program is designed to provide leaders with the training
needed to navigate through today’s educational laws, regulations, and best
practices in order to make informed decisions at the administrative level in
today’s schools and district offices
